Car Rams Pittsburgh FBI Building: What We Know So Far
In a surprising turn of events, a car crashed into the security gate of the FBI's field office in Pittsburgh early Wednesday morning. The incident raised eyebrows and prompted immediate investigations. Here’s everything we know about this targeting story.
The Incident
Around 7:00 AM on September 17, 2025, a driver slammed their car into a staffed security gate at the FBI building. Following the crash, the driver, identified as Donald Henson, allegedly took an American flag from the backseat and tossed it over the gate before fleeing the scene. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the FBI staff or others present.
Christopher Giordano, and assistant special agent in charge of the FBI in Pittsburgh, labelled it as a “targeted attack” on the FBI facility. However, he also confirmed that it’s currently not being treated as a terrorism case, according to spokesperson Bradford Arick.
What Do We Know about the Suspect?
Henson, a resident from nearby Penn Hills, was apprehended over seven hours later, just after 10:00 AM. Authorities disclosed that they are familiar with him; he’s described as a former military member. Giordano mentioned that Henson visited the FBI office only a few weeks prior to file a complaint that made little sense.
The car, a white sedan, was reported to have a mysterious message on one of its side windows and also featured a U.S. Air Force sticker. Although investigators, including a bomb squad, thoroughly examined the vehicle, no explosives were found.
The Bigger Picture
This incident has stirred up discussions about security protocols around federal buildings. With a federal contractor staffed at the security gate 24/7, it’s vital to examine how such a breach could occur without immediate repercussions.
As of now, no charges have been formally filed against Henson. Investigations continue, and authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any relevant information.
